staying warm…

I’m sorry that I have been so awful about posting! I don’t know what it is.. I haven’t been super busy at work, I have had enough time to cook at home… I just feel like I might be coming down with the winter blues. We have had a heavy winter here in New York City so far and, well, I don’t know if I have completely acclimated yet – or really felt unfrozen since November. But it does look like this little guy knows how to do it…

unnatural winter tree.

…And I’m only going to get colder.. as I have a few trips planned for even colder climates in the coming weeks… stay tuned… hopefully I’ll be able to take my hands out of my gloves long enough to snap some photos :).

The blizzard that killed my vacation…

… oh how I enjoy winter! The snowboarding, the dark beers in a warm bar when its cold outside, an excuse to stay in and sit on your couch all day and watch movies, wearing a beanie, the smell of real wood on a fireplace… the list goes on.
What I don’t enjoy about winter is how it can change my eagerly anticipated vacation plans in an instant…. So with that… instead of photos from a ski trip to Lake Tahoe 😦 here are some photos from post blizzard Brooklyn.
Still pretty… but it ain’t California….

Tornados, Hail, Floods… its the midwest…

… NO its Brooklyn!

Last night I experienced the most amazing storm I have ever witnessed in my entire life! I’m not joking… and I know I am not alone… as this consensus was reached as myself and my neighbors gathered at the doorway of our brownstone stoop and watched quarter to golf ball size hail fall to the street, lighting illuminate the sky and the busy street that we all live on turn into a literal river.

I did my best to capture it all but I must admit I am no photojournalist and the awe of the scene kind of took my breath away.

But here is a few shots and some links to some videos taken from the doorway of my brownstone…

Labor Day Weekend… dog playtime…

The end of summer is a sad time for me… I think it’s psychological because in my head I still associate the end of summer with the start of the new school year. Even though that is no longer the case I still look at labor day weekend as the END. But in reality there is still more weekends of nice weather to be had.
And after an awesome bike ride to an empty baseball field with the dog … I look forward to spending a few more days outdoors before the long sleeve weather begins….

Philharmonic 2010 …. the other borough…

I got the privilege this year of getting to listen to the Philharmonic in not only Central Park but in Prospect park in Brooklyn. And although there will always be fond memories of all the Philharmonics I’ve heard in Central Park the Prospect Concert was great. Not that the music was any more amazing but that it was not as organized, more free-flowing. Kinda like Brooklyn!

Here are some night shots from the Philharmonic in Prospect Park…
