… and so we said goodbye …

Life always seems to work that you get yourself comfortable and situated in your surroundings and then WHAM… life reminds you that it is still here (and fleeting). The reminders are sometimes good and sometimes bad. And the only way to truly make sense of it all is to remind yourself that if these things in life didn’t happen than you would forget how important living truly was.

Our bad reminder came as my relatively newly minted husband and I were less than 2 weeks out from our honeymoon adventure of a lifetime when we were confronted by the realities of life.

Our loving, trust-worthy and, yes there for EVERYTHING companion passed away after 12 years of bringing joy to EVERYONE he met. In the span of less than a month we saw him disappear and when the time finally came to say goodbye we knew it was the right thing to do. In the big picture of things … I guess we can be considered lucky that it was one hardest things either of us ever had to do, collectively or separately. But it still hurts and we miss him everyday.

So as we embark on this once in a lifetime adventure (which I will be posting photos of); we know that we will be appreciating every moment and thankful for every second we have on our trip. Because, in some way, the dog leaving us when he did made us acutely aware of what we have, where we are and how quick life passes.

…. until you get attacked with a snowball (which seem to hurt more when you are an adult).

And the creation of a snowman take on a whole new meaning…

… we can’t just make snowmen anymore but some sort of sculpture reminiscent of Easter Island architecture.

Regardless of the permanence of the sculpture’s we are always so happy that they have been created!

… A very special Happy Birthday wish to someone who is young at heart and who I hope to be having snowball fights with for years to come.

…Arches National Park and Colorado…

After a night of mosquito camping… We were off! Hiking :)… Right outside Arches National Park (cause once again National Parks aren’t pet friendly:( )

But the hike we went on was as good as any hike we could have found in Arches!

After the very HOT hike we took a quick dip in the Colorado River and the were on our way to…

The sights were beautiful…

From there we headed out on the road…

…and finally we made it to Colorado!!!…

… We [heart] Yosemite…

… Anyone who has had a 5 minute conversation with me knows that. But now that place and the areas surrounding it…

holds a very (extra special) place for both Joe and I – as well as Capone (since he was there too)…

This is our self-timer photo FAIL but we both kinda love it.

We love it so much because this is also now where WE GOT ENGAGED! :):)
We both are extremely happy! (obviously!!)

We are definitely out celebrating but we still have alot of photos from our camp out that evening…

the east side of Yosemite…

And Mono lake…

We are so very excited :). Looks like this little roadtrip is the start of many more fun trips together for us in the future.
